Charities and Non-Profits We Support
Local
Our family spent a night in December serving food there and saw first-hand how important it is
to give to this charity.
We support Channel 10/36 as there are often informative programs for adults
and entertaining shows for the kids on Milwaukee's local PBS stations.
We enjoy the Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee and we are regulars at their monthly
vegetarian potluck.
Our local NPR station is hosted by the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. They have a lot of
great programming, especially for music. We've been listening to The Deuce,
their new high-definition radio station. Their playlists are all over the place with some
really good adult-alternative music, check them out!
Global
While we're mostly doing the animal-free diet for health reasons, this charity seemed to really
be effective. HFA's goals are to protect farm animals from cruelty, to protect the public from the dangerous misuse of antibiotics, hormones, and other chemicals used on factory farms, and to protect the environment from the impacts of industrialized animal factories.
The American Institute for Philanthrophy gives them an A-.
The ONE campaign is the campaign to make poverty history.
ONE is a new effort by Americans to rally Americans – ONE by ONE –
to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty. The cause is heavily supported
by Hollywood celebrities as well as some of our
favorite rock stars.
