Another of Dalva's winning recipes, originally from Holbrook Adventist School. She served us these patties on a picnic on whole wheat bread with lettuce, fresh tomato and vegenaise, but they are even tastier served hot with gravy and mashed potatoes, like meatloaf.
Place first eight ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover, remove from heat and let sit for about 30 minutes, until liquid is well absorbed.
Oil two large cookie sheets. Measure 1/3 cup portions onto sheet and flatten with spatula or patty-maker to no more than 1/2 inch thickness.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Flip over and bake 15 minutes more, or until delicately browned.
Makes about 18 burgers.
